واقع القراءة الحرة لدى متعلمي اللغة العربية الناطقين بلغات أخرى

Leisure Reading: A Case Study of Second Language learners of Arabic

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف على واقع القراءة الحرة لدى متعلمي اللغة العربية الناطقين بلغات أخرى، والتعرف على الجوانب التي يفضلونها عند القراءة الحرة، واتجاهاتهم نحوها، وأهم المعوقات التي تؤدي إلى عزوفهم عنها. ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة اتبعت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، واستخدمت الاستبانة كأداة رئيسة للدراسة، حيث تم إعداد استبانة مكونة من (61) فقرة موزعة على (5) محاور هي ممارسات القراءة الحرة، والتفضيلات المرتبطة بالقراءة الحرة، واتجاهات متعلمي اللغة العربية نحو القراءة الحرة، ومعوقات القراءة الحرة، ومحفزات القراءة الحرة، وقد تم إجراء الصدق والثبات للأداة للتأكد من صلاحيتها للتطبيق، وقد تكون مجتمع الدراسة من جميع طلاب المستوى الرابع وعددهم (380) طالباً، وهم طلاب السنة الأخيرة بمعهد تعليم اللغة العربية لغير الناطقين بها بالجامعة الإسلامية بالمدينة المنورة، وقد طبقت الدراسة على عينة مكونة من (80) طالباً، وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن من يمارسون القراءة الحرة دائماً بلغت نسبتهم (35??)، وأن من يقرؤون باللغة العربية بلغت نسبتهم (75??)، وأن معدل القراءة اليومية جاء بنسبة (48??)، وأن النسبة الأكبر لمن بدأوا القراءة وهم أقل من (16) عاماً، وأن الاهتمام بالقراءة في المطبوعات الورقية أكثر من القراءة من خلال النصوص الإليكترونية. وفيما يتعلق بتفضيلات القراءة الحرة جاء المسجد والمنزل أفضل مكان للقراءة، وجاءت الموضوعات الدينية أفضل المواضيع للقراءة، كما أظهرت الدراسة أن اتجاهات متعلمي اللغة العربية الناطقين بلغات أخرى نحو القراءة الحرة كانت إيجابية، كما بينت الدراسة أن الانشغال بالدراسة أهم معوقات القراءة الحرة.

This paper aims to study the status of leisure reading of second language learners of Arabic. In addition, the current study examines their preference and attitudes towards it and the common obstacles that lead to the lack of reading interest.

To achieve its objectives, this study draws on data obtained from a survey containing 61 questions which are divided into five main sections. Three sections dealt with the free reading practices of the respondents, their attitudes towards leisure reading, and their preferences. Two sections aimed to investigate reading obstacles and incentives. Validity and stability of the tool have been conducted to guarantee that it is appropriate for use. The study population consisted of all 380 fourth-level students, who are seniors at the Institute of Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers at the Islamic University in Madinah. The study was applied to a sample of 80 students.

Overall, the results of this paper show that 35% of participants read for fun, and 75% of those read in Arabic. 48% of students read daily. The majority of the participants started reading when they were 16 years old or younger. It is confirmed that participants prefer reading printed books over e-books. As for their preferences, the results show that there is a preference among participants to read in mosques and to read religiously related topics. The results presented also capture the positive attitudes of Arabic learners towards free reading and show that being preoccupied with their studies is the most important obstacle that they face.
