Abstract
The study aimed to identify the extent to which faculty members at the College of Science, Majmaah University, implement the Deep Learning Approach (DLA) in their teaching. The study sample consisted of 121 faculty members from the College of Science. A descriptive survey methodology was adopted, and the researcher developed a questionnaire comprising 19 items distributed across three domains: higher-order learning, integrative learning, and reflective learning. The study yielded several key findings, the most prominent of which was that the level of DLA implementation by faculty members was high. The most frequently practiced dimension was higher-order learning, followed by integrative learning, while reflective learning was the least practiced. The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in the overall degree of DLA implementation based on gender. However, statistically significant differences were found in two domains—higher-order learning and reflective learning—based on years of experience, in favor of faculty members with 10 years of experience or more. Moreover, significant differences emerged in all domains based on academic qualification, favoring those holding a doctoral degree, and based on academic specialization, favoring those specialized in chemistry. The study concluded with several recommendations, the most notable of which was the expansion of professional development programs in the field of deep learning.
