The
current study aimed to identify the role of digital leadership in promoting the
use of artificial intelligence applications in Saudi universities. It also
focused on identifying the reality of digital leadership implementation and the
obstacles universities face in using these modern technologies. It also
presented a proposed model for activating digital leadership in this context,
in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The study used a descriptive and
analytical approach, given its suitability for the nature of the research. A
questionnaire was used as a data collection tool, and the sample included
(5325) academic leaders and faculty members in Saudi universities (Hail
University - Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal University - Shaqra University), The
study results showed that there is a growing awareness of the importance of
applying artificial intelligence in education. However, there are several
obstacles that hinder the full implementation of digital leadership, such as
the lack of integration between technical infrastructure and artificial
intelligence needs, in addition to challenges related to training academic
staff. It also revealed that universities need more investment in
infrastructure and the development of flexible strategies that keep pace with
rapid technological changes. In light of these findings, the study recommends
the need to enhance cooperation between universities and technology companies,
develop sustainable training platforms for academic staff, and provide
financial resources to support digital transformation projects.
