الملخص
يعد التاريخ الاقتصادي من العناصر المؤثرة في صناعة أحداث الفرد والدولة معًا، وهنا تكمن أهميته في تحليل الأحداث التاريخية وإبراز نتائجها، ويُعد إنشاء فرع البنك العثماني في ولاية بغداد في عام 1310هـ/ 1893م من الأحداث المهمة التي أظهرت بوضوح رغبة الدول الأوروبية في الدخول من بوابة الامتيازات الأجنبية للدولة العثمانية.
       فعلى الرُّغم من تأسيس هذا الفرع في أوائل القرن الرابع عشر الهجري، أي أنه في الفترة المتأخرة من العصر العثماني؛ إلا أنه أظهر كفاءةً عالية في تطوير النظام النقدي والمصرفي بالعراق، وساهم في التقليل من الاعتماد على الصيارفة المحليين الذين تمكنوا بواسطة ما لديهم من ثروة من السيطرة على مقاليد الأمور المالية في ولاية بغداد.
     كما أن هذا الفرع كان له مجموعة من النشاطات التي حافظت على الاستقرار المالي للولاية لفترةٍ طويلة، فما بين المحافظة على أسعار تبادل العملات وفق الأسعار المحددة والرسمية، وإقراض الولاية بما تحتاج إليه من أموال لتغطية نفقة المصروفات والعجز المالي فيها، برزت بغداد لتكون إحدى أهم الولايات التي نشط فيها التبادل التجاري بين تُجَّارها المحليين وبعض المصانع في القارة الأوروبية بواسطة فرع البنك العثماني.
     وكان لهذهِ النشاطات التي قام بها فرع البنك دورٌ في استمرارها، حتى ما بعد نشوب الحرب العالمية الأولى في عام 1332-1336هـ/ 1914-1918م، على العكس من فروع البنك الأخرى في ولايتي البصرة والموصل والتي توقفت نشاطاتها مبكرًا.

Abstract
Economic history stands out as one of the most important elements influencing the making of individual events for everyone, and its importance has been placed in analyzing historical events and highlighting their results, and it helps in establishing the branch of the Ottoman Bank in the state of Baghdad in 1310 AH / 1893 AD from the events that began and clearly for the European countries to begin entering through the gateway of foreign currencies. 
 Then despite the fact that this branch was established in the early fourteenth century AH / late nineteenth century, that is, in the late period of the Roman era; it showed a high qualification in developing the monetary and banking system in Iraq, and contributed to relying on money changers in the thresholds who were able, through their wealth, to control the reins of financial affairs in the state of Baghdad.
This branch also had a group of economic activities that preserved the privacy of the state for a long time, which is summarized in trading currency prices according to specific and official indicators, lending transparency including what it needs to secure the expense of expenses and the financial deficit in it, which Baghdad emerged as one of the most important. Commercial exchange between its merchants, and some of them in Europe through the branch of the Ottoman Bank. 
These activities played by the branch of the Ottoman Bank in the Baghdad province were a pivotal part in its outcome even after the outbreak of World War I in 1332-1336 AH / 1914-1918 AD, unlike other banks in the provinces of Basra and Mosul, which led to their rapid activity. Because the economic role played by the workers in the Ottoman Bank in the Baghdad province may work on many matters of political and military philosophy, which they were keen to demonstrate to advance and preserve its wealth.
