Narrative Time Techniques in the Novel ?Ammat ?l Mashriq by Omaima Al-Khamis

ملخص الدراسة

تسعى هذه الدراسة إلى إبراز خصائص البنية الزمنية في رواية عمّة آل مشرق للروائية أميمة الخميس، وقد تناولت هذه الدراسة تقنيات السرد الزمني، وقد جاء زمن الخطاب مفارقًا في نظامه لزمن القصة؛ نظرًا لاعتماد الكاتبة على تقنيات تكسير الزمن وخلخلة نظامه، بالعودة إلى الخلف أو القفز إلى الأمام، أو تسريع السرد أو الإبطاء من حركته الزمنية.

ويعدُّ الزمن من أهم العناصر الأساسية في بناء النص الروائي، وهو يرتبط بالسرد ارتباطًا وثيقًا، وهذا الارتباط الوثيق هو الذي يمنح الزمن أهميته الكبيرة في الرواية، فلا سرد بلا زمن، وعليه فقد سلطتُ الضوء على هذا العنصر المهم في بناء الرواية من خلال رواية "عمّة آل مشرق"، حيث حظيت الأزمنة فيها باهتمام خاصّ، وقد شكلت بتنوعها وحضورها الفني ظاهرة ينبغي الوقوف أمامها ودراستها، والنظر في مفارقاتها وتقنياتها ودلالاتها الفنية البارزة.

وقد توقف الباحث عند البنية الزمنية في رواية "عمّة آل مشرق" ساعيًا إلى الكشف عن دورها في تشكيل الرواية، علمًا بأن الباحث قد اعتمد -بسبب طبيعة هذه الدراسة وكونها تتعلق بالزمن-على المنهج البنيوي؛ لأنه ينطلق من مبدأ تحليل بنية الرواية، وأهم مكوناتها في إنتاج الدلالة الفنية.

وقد خرَجت الدراسة بنتائج متعددة، من أهمها:

- أن الزمن يُعدُّ من أهم العناصر البنائية في رواية "عمّة آل مشرق".

- أن الكاتبة وظّفت الترتيب الزمني فأعطت روايتها انكسارات مختلفة في خط السرد، وهذا راجع إلى المفارقة الزمنية بأسلوبيها الاسترجاع والاستباق. 

- أن تقنية الاسترجاع تُعدُّ الأكثر حضورًا في طريقة سرد الأحداث في الرواية.

-  أن تقنية الاستباق تُعدُّ الأقل حضورًا في طريقة سرد الأحداث في الرواية.

- أن تقنيتي المشهد والوقفة من أبرز تقنيات الإيقاع الزمني التي استخدمته الراوية لإبطاء سرد الأحداث في الرواية وتعطيلها.

- أن الكاتبة استطاعت التلاعب بأحداث الرواية من خلال توظيفها للزمن بجميع تقنياته.

Abstract

This study aims to highlight the characteristics of temporal structure in the novel ?Ammat ?la Mashriq by the novelist Omaima Al-Khamis. The study specifically addresses the narrative techniques of time, and it finds that the narrative time diverges in its structure from the story time due to the author's reliance on techniques of temporal disruption—by moving backward or forward in time, accelerating the narrative, or slowing its temporal flow.

Time is considered one of the most essential elements in constructing a narrative text. It is closely tied to narration itself, and this tight connection is what grants time its great significance in the novel; for there is no narration without time. Accordingly, this study sheds light on this vital narrative element through the novel ?Ammat ?la Mashriq, Time in the novel has received particular attention, for through its diversity and artistic presence it has emerged as a phenomenon that warrants close examination—especially with regard to its paradoxes, techniques, and significant aesthetic implications.

The researcher focused on the temporal structure in ?Ammat ?la Mashriq, seeking to uncover its role in shaping the novel. Given the nature of this study and its focus on time, the researcher adopted the structuralist approach, as it is based on analyzing the structure of the novel and its most significant components in generating artistic meaning.

The study reached several findings, the most important of which are:

- Time is one of the most significant structural elements in the novel ?Ammat ?la Mashriq.

- The author employed temporal order to create various breaks in the narrative line, due to temporal anachrony in the forms of analepsis and prolepsis.

- The technique of analepsis "flashback" is the most prevalent method used in narrating the events of the novel.

- The technique of prolepsis "foreshadowing" is the least employed method in the narration.

- The techniques of scene and pause are among the most prominent rhythmic temporal techniques used by the narrator to slow down or suspend the narrative events.

- The author succeeded in manipulating the events of the novel through her use of time in all its techniques.
