وظائف الشعر في السرد القديم: قراءة في كتاب (أدب الغرباء) للأصفهاني

The Functions of Poetry in Classical Arabic Narrative: A Reading in The Book of Ghurba'- al Adab (the Literature of Strangers) by  Asfah?n?-al Faraj- al Ab?

المستخلص:

   تتناول هذه الدراسة وظائف الشعر في السرد القديم، في أنموذج من أقدم نماذجه هو كتاب (أدب الغرباء) لأبي الفرج لأصفهاني. وتنطلق الدراسة من فرضية مفادها أن للشعر في سرود الأخبار القديمة وظائف، تفوق تلك التي تكون له في كتب النحو والبلاغة، حين يرد على سبيل المثل والشاهد.

   وقد أحسن الإخباريون والرواة استخدام الشعر لتحقيق السيرورة للأخبار وحفز التلقي، لما له من تأثير على نفوس المتلقين، لكن أحدا منهم لم يتوقف، حسب علم الباحثة، عند الوظائف التي يقوم بها الشعر في سرود الأخبار التراثية، ولو من باب جمع المحاسن التي يحققها الشعر لرواية الأخبار، أو التمييز بين الخبر المطعم بالشعر وغير المطعم، مع حرصهم على توضيح مزايا الشعر عامة، والكشف عن قيمته الحضارية؛ بوصفه حاملا للفكر والثقافة، وحافظا للأيام والوقائع والأحداث، ما يجعل روايته وحفظه ضرورة ملزمة لمن يمارسون الكتابة في العلوم والأجناس المختلفة.

   هذا الاهتمام بالشعر عند القدماء، يجعل البحث عن وظائفه في سرود أخبارهم عملا يستحق الدراسة؛ لذا اختارت الدراسة كتابا إخباريا، يقوم الشعر فيه بوظائف متعددة، هو (أدب الغرباء) للأصفهاني، وهو كتاب تتسم أخباره بالمحدودية في الموضوع والعدد، حيث يقتصر مؤلفه على رواية أخبار الغرباء، ويورد منها ستة وسبعين خبرا فقط، ما يجعل مادته قابلة للتحليل في ورقة بحثية موجزة، مما يفتح الطريق أمام الباحثين من بعد لاكتشاف وظائف الشعر في سرود إخبارية أخرى.

Abstract

This study deals with the functions of poetry in classical Arabic narrative, as presented in one of the oldest book, namely the book of Adab al- Ghurab? (the Literature of Strangers) by Ab? al-Faraj al-Asfah?n? . The study begins with a hypothesis to the effect that poetry in classical Arabic narratives has more functions than it has in the books of grammar and rhetoric, when it is presented as an example or evidence.

Reporters and narrators of Akhbar (anecdotal narratives) have made good use of poetry to achieve the wide spread of these narratives and stimulate their reception, because of their strong effect on the hearts of the recipients. However no one to my knowledge has paid enough attention to the functions that poetry performs in classical Arabic narratives, not even in regard to collecting the merits that poetry achieves in the narration of narratives or to distinguishing between the narratives which employ poetry and those which do not , though some of them are keen to clarify the features of poetry in general, and to reveal its cultural value; since poetry was the governor of thought and culture, and a preserver of Arab heroism and history, which makes its narration and memorization an obligatory necessity for those who practice writing in different sciences and genres.

This interest in poetry makes the search for its functions in classical report stories a worthy study. Therefore, this study chose to analyze The Book of the literature of Strangers, because poetry in this book performs several functions, and because it is a book whose narratives are limited in subject matter and number, as its author limited himself to narrating narratives concerning strangers, and only 76 of them are presented, which makes their analysis manageable in a brief research paper like this , in the hope that this may open the way for other researchers to discover the functions of poetry in another types of narrative stories or Akhbar.
