The Reception of Isam Khuqir’s Novel “Siniora”

حظيت رواية السنيورة باهتمام واسع من القراء والنقاد لعدة أسباب، يأتي في مقدمتها طرحها قضية العلاقة بين الشرق والغرب، في سياق مجموعة من الروايات العربية الشبيهة بها التي تتضمن رواية "الحي اللاتيني" لسهيل إدريس ورواية "عصفور من الشرق" لتوفيق الحكيم ورواية "موسم الهجرة إلى الشمال" للطيب وصالح وغيرها، وكذلك لمناقشتها بعض القضايا الوطنية والاجتماعية المتنوعة، وإثارتها لبعض القضايا الفنية المرتبطة بجنس الرواية. وتأتي هذه الدراسة البحثية لتتناول دراسة تلقي هذه الرواية في عدد من الدراسات التي تناولتها في كليتها أو التي تناولت أبعادًا معينة منها ضمن دراسات متعددة كتبت حول الرواية السعودية بشكل عام. وتدخل هذه الدراسة فيما يسمى بنقد النقد، أو تلقي التلقي.

أما دراستنا هذه فتختلف عن الدراسات السابقة في كونها تتناول تلقي رواية سعودية واحدة هي رواية السنيورة لعصام خوقير، من خلال ما كتب عنها في الصحف والمجلات، وكذلك من خلال الإشارات التي وردت عنها في عدد غير قليل من الكتب والدراسات التي كتبت حول الرواية السعودية بشكل عام وجاء فيها تناول لهذه رواية.

لقد نالت رواية " السنيورة" لعصام خوقير اهتمامًا جيدًا من النقاد منذ صدورها، وقد شكل هذا الاهتمام ظهور مدونة تلق متنوعة سعت الباحثة إلى دراستها بعد أن قسمتها إلى أربعة أنواع من التلقي: التلقي الأيديولوجي، والتلقي الحضاري، والتلقي الفني، والتلقي الأجناسي.

وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من النتائج لعل من أهمها أن المقاربة النقدية في النقد الأيديولوجي قد جاءت في الغالب الأعم خادمة للموقف الفكري الذي اتخذه هذا النقد وهو تمسك بطل الرواية بالقيم الإسلامية في بيئة غربية عاش فيها مدة من الزمن رغم كل ما فيها من مغريات. أما التلقي النقدي الحضاري فقد كان أوسع أفقًا في تناوله لمضمون هذه الرواية، إذ أشار إلى الأبعاد الحضارية والثقافية والإنسانية في موضوع تلاقي الشرق بالغرب في الرواية. وفيما يتعلق بالتلقي النقدي الفني للرواية فقد برز اهتمام الدراسين فيه بدراسة الأبعاد السردية للرواية والتعريف بها وتقويمها من منظورات فنية متعددة، وإن لم يهملوا مضامين الرواية بطبيعة الحال. أما التلقي الأجناسي فقد اتخذ من إشكالية تجنيس هذه الرواية مرتكزا أساسيًّا لتحليلها وأبان تفاوتًا بينًّا في تلقيها تبعًا لربط الكاتب ببطل الرواية من عدمه. وقد مال أكثر هذا النقد إلى ربطها بسيرة الكاتب وهو أمر رأينا أنه مجحف بالرواية وبكاتبها.

Abstract

Siniora’s novel has received wide attention from readers and critics for several reasons, foremost of which is its posing of the issue of the relationship between East and West, in the context of a group of Arab novels similar to it, including the novel “The Latin Quarter” by Suhail Idris, “A Bird from the East” by Tawfiq al-Hakim, and “Season of Migration” To the North" by Al-Tayyib, Saleh and others, as well as for discussing some diverse national and social issues, and raising some technical issues related to the novel's gender. This research study comes to address the study of receiving this novel in a number of studies that dealt with it in its totality or that dealt with certain dimensions of it within several studies that have been written about the Saudi novel in general. This study is included in the so-called criticism of criticism, or receiving reception.

As for our study, it differs from previous studies in that it deals with the reception of one Saudi novel, the Siniora novel by Issam Khoqir, through what was written about it in newspapers and magazines, as well as through references to it in quite a few books and studies that have been written about the Saudi novel in general.

The "Siniora" by Issam Khoqir has received good attention from critics since its publication, and this interest has shaped the emergence of a diverse receptions that the researcher sought to study after dividing it into four types of reception: ideological reception, civilized reception, artistic reception, and generic reception.

 The study reached a set of results, perhaps the most important of which is that the critical approach in ideological criticism came in the general to serve the intellectual position taken by this criticism, which is the adherence of the protagonist to Islamic values in a Western environment in which he lived for a period of time despite all its temptations. As for the civilized critical reception, it was broader in its approach to the content of this novel, as it referred to the civilizational, cultural and human dimensions in the subject of the convergence of East and West in the novel.  With regard to the artistic critical reception of the novel, many studies showed keen interest in studying the narrative dimensions of the novel, introducing and evaluating it from multiple artistic perspectives, although of course they did not neglect the contents of the novel. As for the generic reception, it took the problem of the determining the genre of this novel as a basic basis for its analysis, and during a clear discrepancy in its reception, depending on linking the writer to the protagonist of the novel or not. Most of this criticism tended to link it to the writer's biography, which we saw as unfair to the novel and its writer
